BRITELINE sustainably lights up the sandy shores of Cascais, extending the use of facilities
The beaches along the Avenida Marginal in the Municipality of Cascais are very popular, especially in the hot summer months, thanks to amenities including sun loungers, parasols, bars and sports facilities. As the nights get warmer, it is only natural that people want to continue enjoying the cool breeze on the beach after sunset.
Committed to sustainable tourism and enhancing its public spaces, the municipality of Cascais therefore decided to improve the lighting on some of its beaches along the coastal road between Oeiras and the city centre of Cascais, including Carcavelos, Tamariz and Poça.
Safety, comfort and control thanks to BRITELINE floodlights
The Municipality of Cascais chose the BRITELINE to enhance the night-time landscape of the beaches. These high-powered floodlights, installed on the boardwalk, provide total light control, eliminating backlight spill and ensuring that no light is directed towards the ocean. This mimimises any impact on marine life.
After nightfall, the new lighting provides perfect visibility on the beaches, enabling the local community and tourists to enjoy the leisure and sports activities in complete safety and comfort and make the most of the warm summer nights.
A lighting control solution for all situations
The BRITELINE floodlights are connected to NEMA controllers, which are in turn connected to the Cascais Command and Control Centre. This enables the municipality to adjust the light levels according to how busy the beach is, conserving energy when fewer people are present and reducing light pollution.
Due to the mechanical design of the BRITELINE, it was not possible to mount the controllers directly onto the floodlights. Therefore, we developed the POHO supports specifically for situations where control sockets cannot be integrated into floodlights or luminaires.
In line with the municipality’s commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental protection, the new sustainable lighting system provides a safe and comfortable environment for the community to enjoy the facilities after dark, all while reducing energy consumption and light pollution.
